Primary School Admissions Consultation

Consultation Period: running from Tuesday 11th November 2025 until Monday 22nd December 2025

Consultation Length: Six weeks

Introduction: In accordance with the School Admissions Code (2021), The Heath Family Trust is consulting on the proposed admissions arrangements for the following academies for entry in September 2027 (and for subsequent years unless amended):

• Bridgewater Park Primary School
• Daresbury Primary School
• Palace Fields Primary School

As the admission authority for these academies, the Trust is responsible for determining the admission arrangements and ensuring they comply with statutory requirements.

Purpose of the Consultation: The purpose of this consultation is to seek the views of parents, carers, schools, local authorities, and other stakeholders on the proposed admissions arrangements for the above academies.

As part of our ongoing commitment to consistency and fairness across all schools within the trust, we have reviewed the admissions criteria currently in place. The proposed changes to the admissions criteria are as follows:

It is proposed that the following criteria is removed from the oversubscription criteria for Bridgewater Park Primary School, Daresbury Primary School, and Palace Fields Primary School:

Where there are professionally supported medical reasons or professionally supported exceptional social reasons why a child should attend the school.

The rationale for removing this criteria is that this has not been applied consistently across all Halton schools for which the trust is the admissions authority. In addition, it does not feature in the oversubscription criteria for schools in the Knowsley or Sefton areas. The trust wishes to improve the consistency and clarity of its admissions arrangements across the board.

Who We Are Consulting With: This consultation is open to:

• Parents and carers of children aged between 2 and 18;
• Other persons with an interest in the proposed arrangements;
• Other admission authorities in the local area;
• Local authorities for the areas in which the academies are located; and
• Any adjoining local authorities where applicable.
